driving

Travelling to Val d’Isere by means of your own car is a great idea if you need or want more flexibility getting around once there. Being able to drive yourself where you want to go around the resort is much more convenient and comfortable and also allows you to enjoy day trips or to visit other nearby resorts and villages.

When driving to Val d’Isere there are two options to consider on how to cross the channel, hop on a Ferry from Dover or use the Eurotunnel for convenience (and avoid that horrible sea sickness for those sufferers out there).Dover to Calais by Ferry is 1hr 30 mins and the Eurotunnel leaving from Folkestone to Calais is 35 minutes.

Once across the channel it then takes 9hrs 46mins to drive to Val d’Isere by shortest route VIA the A26, this route has tolls costing around €73.50, so make sure to factor this into your budget.

Being a long drive we recommend an overnight stay especially if travelling with children as it can be very tiring, if you are fine driving the whole way through until you get to resort then there are many picnic stops and services along the route.

Driving also gives you freedom to take your own equipment and as much luggage as possible without those pesky weight limits and charges.
