More About Sauze d’Oulx

Sauze d’Oulx is situated in the Piedmont region of Italy, close to the nearby border with France.  Originally infamous for being a real party location, it still remains to be a buzzing spot for visitors.  Featuring some of the most enjoyable and beautiful terrain throughout the Alps, Sauze d’Oulx’s location makes the most of being found in the vast Milky Way area.

Let’s Talk Skiing

The Sauze d’Oulx piste map is most suited to intermediate skiers; offering a total of 400km of total lift-linked slopes in the Milky Way region.  You’ve got four key areas to explore: Cesana Torinese, Claviere, Sansicario and Sestriere.  A great benefit of this resort is that much of the slopes are found within the trees; making them ideal if the weather isn’t that great.  They’ve also had the forethought to invest in good snowmaking facilities to make up for issues with lack of snowfall.

Beginners will enjoy their own dedicated slope which is found up the mountain at Sportinia – it isn’t the best location, but you will get good snowfall here.  You have got a magic carpet, but you will need to be prepared for downloading as it’s only red routes on the return.  Once you’ve found your confidence, the Sauze D’Oulx pistes have so much to offer.  Especially if you head towards Montgenèvre.

You’ve got some particularly good reds by Sansicario, and it’s definitely worth heading for piste 71 which is nice and quiet.  Make sure you also visit Moncrons which is equally quiet, although you will find a slow chair and draglift here.

There’s more for advanced skiers than boarders in Sauze d’Oulx.  Although there are over 80km of pistes which are recognised as black, you’d be more likely to see these as red slopes if you went elsewhere.  It’s probably not the best location if you’re really looking for a huge adrenalin rush, but there is some excitement to be had if you hit the slopes after fresh snowfall.
