Travelling To Mayrhofen

What should you consider when travelling to Mayrhofen? Should you fly, train or drive? What about bringing ski equipment with you, which way would be easiest when doing so? What’s the quickest way to get here? Or the cheapest? All very important questions… well we are here to help and provide you with everything you need to know about getting to your favourite resort!!

Flying

If you are travelling to Mayrhofen from outside of Austria, then flying into Innsbruck is the quickest and most convenient way to get to there. Mayrhofen is then a transfer (taxi or minibus) or a bus ride away from the airport, unless you’re driving yourself with a hire car.

Innsbruck is the closest airport, 1h 03 mins away and has a good choice of airlines operating throughout the winter season.

The next closest airport Salzburg is a little further away 2 hours away and is also only used mostly during winter.

Or another option is Munich across the border in Germany which has great flight options and fabulous prices, it is 2h 13 mins away only a little further away than Salzburg but does have a lot more options with flights.

During the winter months (December to March/April) there are a higher number flights from the UK to the airports mentioned previously.

If you are thinking of having ski carriage then do not forget to check how much extra the airline might charge you and allow yourself extra time to get all your equipment checked in.
