The Tirolean ski resort of Galtür is rekindling snow love for ‘returning skiers’ with a dedicated ski course.
Galtür’s offer includes equipment hire and a specially-formulated ski course designed for guests who have skied before, and may even be very experienced, but are apprehensive about making turns in the snow again.
It is proving particularly popular with women, with some not having skied since they were children 30 years ago.
We know that some wintersports fans can sometimes go a number of seasons, perhaps many years, without a trip to the mountains for lots of reasons – pressure of work or babies arriving are typical reasons,
said Andreas Steibl, Tourist Director of the lovely Paznaun Valley, where Galtür is located near the resort of Ischgl. Some will be anxious about how they will feel on skis again – and even think, will I be able to turn?
Our aim with this new programme is to take away those worries and with the Silvretta Galtür ski school we’ve designed a package to precisely meet the needs of this target group.
The offer includes a six-day lift pass, hire of the latest ski equipment, and a three-day ski course carefully planned to make a return to the slopes fantastic fun and worry-free… all from 449 euros per person.
The current equipment is a revelation for those who have not skied for several years. They remark that the wonderful modern shaped skis are so much easier to turn than the long straight skis they were used to in the past. And today’s ski boots are also much more comfortable than they used to be. They are amazed how quickly their fears and uncertainty fade away,
said Andreas.
The programme operates with small groups, brushing up on basic technique, with top tips on some new methods, in a fun environment. Participants have plenty of free skiing time to put it all into practice.
Galtür’s Silvapark ski area is the perfect backdrop for this and snow is guaranteed from the start of December to the end of April.
And for those determined to pack in as much skiing as possible, some slopes are open for night skiing every Wednesday – and a pass for this is included in the returning skier package.
Silvapark Galtür has 43 km of pistes and ten lifts and is cleverly divided into six sectors to cater for all abilities and requirements.
