Heres a quick update of ski resorts still open for business on the 9th April 2016. Currently there are 57 Austrian resorts open with most of many of them expecting to stay open for another week. Any of them have no snow left in the valleys, but most have at least 75% of their runs still open and it would seem offering a reasonable quality of snow, at least in the mornings. Our advice in the spring is always hit the slopes early as the snow quality generally deteriorates by 1pm or 2pm in the afternoon.
There are discounted ski/lift pass prices available in a number of these resorts and the resorts open longer term, glaciers have moved to their spring pass rates from the beginning of April.
The top ten resorts by snow depth as at the 9 April are
Dachstein Glacier
Glacier World Weissee
Hintertux Glacier
Kaunertal
Kitzsteinhorn – Kaprun
Molltal Glacier
Pitzal Glacier
Solden
Stubai Glacier
Zillertal 3000 Glacier World
All of these have 200 metres of snow or more on the main slopes.
