Adelboden

About the Resort

As one of Europe’s leading ski resorts, Adelboden was actually the destination for the world’s first ski package holiday back in 1903 thanks to Sir Henry Lunn.  To date, it’s still up there as a most-loved resort – in Switzerland’s top five.   A beautiful classic Alpine resort featuring 143km of pistes, found

Looking at the Adelboden piste map, you’ve got two separate ski areas to visit with good snowmaking facilities.  Nearest to the village is TschentenAlp, which is a smaller but fun location, plus its bigger main area – Adelboden-Lenk.  Here you’ll find a three-stage gondola connection which you can reach by taking a mini-gondola from Oey.  Although you won’t find any home run pistes down to Adelboden, it’s well worth trying out the long blue to Oey.  You’ve also got a good nursery slope close to the centre which is great for beginners.

When it comes to Adelboden ski accommodation, there are lots of choices on offer.  Most of the Adelboden hotels are mainly 3- and 4-star, with the more expensive hotels having more facilities to choose from.

Adelboden does suffer from its low altitude at 2362m, however it does have good snowmaking facilities which ensures you’ll still enjoy reliable snowfall here.  Across the season, you’ll find that in December

Away from the slopes, there are lots of things for non-skiers in Adelboden to enjoy.  In the daytime, you’ll find a curling rink, indoor climbing walls, ice skating and a sports centre with tenpin bowling.  There aren’t many dedicated facilities for children in Adelboden, however you’ll find that a lot of the hotels do offer children’s activities and childcare.  If relaxation is what you’re after, you could also visit the luxury wellness spas.  Some of the hotels have swimming pools too.

We really like the charm that Adelboden has on offer.  As a traditional chalet-style mountain village located in a beautiful setting

If you’re looking for a traditional Swiss resort with superb scenery, Adelboden is definitely for you.  Brilliant for intermediate skiers, especially with its linked area in Lenk, Adelboden is also a fantastic location for cross-country trails and winter walking
